CivilCalc Pro — Privacy Policy

CivilCalc Pro (the "App") is developed and published by Mohammed Farooque (the "Developer", "we", "us"). This policy explains exactly what the App does and does not do with data. It is deliberately specific: where something does leave your device, we name it.

1. Your engineering data never leaves your device

Everything you enter and everything the App produces — calculation inputs and results, saved projects, rate libraries, bills of quantity, and every exported PDF calculation sheet or BOQ report — is stored in a database on the device itself.

• Project data is held in a local SQLite database in app-private storage. It is not synced, backed up to us, or transmitted anywhere.
• There is no account and no sign-in. We have no user records, because there is nothing to keep them in.
• Every calculation runs on the device. No cloud service performs any part of the engineering.
• PDF export writes to the location you choose. Sharing that file afterwards is your action, not ours — see section 6.
• Uninstalling the App deletes this data, including your projects and rate library. There is no copy anywhere else, so export anything you want to keep before uninstalling.

2. Advertising — the one thing that is collected

The free version of the App displays advertisements supplied by Google AdMob. To do that, the Google Mobile Ads SDK embedded in the App collects your device's advertising ID.

What is collected	The Android advertising ID (AAID), a resettable identifier Google provides for advertising, together with the standard technical information an ad request carries — device type, operating system version, coarse locale and IP address.
Who collects it	Google, through the Google Mobile Ads (AdMob) SDK. The Developer never receives it and has no access to it. We see only aggregate earnings reports in the AdMob console.
Why	To select and measure ads, cap how often the same ad is shown, and detect invalid traffic.
When	Only when an ad is requested: banners appear on results screens, and a full-screen ad appears at most once per three completed calculations. Never on launch and never while you are entering data.
Is it shared	Yes — it is shared with Google and its advertising partners as part of serving the ad. This is why the Play data safety form for this App declares the advertising ID as both collected and shared.
Is your project data involved	No. No calculation, project name, quantity, rate, cost figure or exported file is sent with an ad request, or anywhere else.
How to stop it	Buy the Pro unlock, which removes all ads and therefore all ad requests. You can also reset or delete the advertising ID at any time in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads.

Google's own handling of this data is governed by the Google Privacy & Terms and, for advertising specifically, Google's AdMob policies.

3. No analytics and no tracking of how you use the App

The App contains no analytics SDK. There is no Firebase Analytics, no crash reporting service, no usage telemetry and no advertising or attribution network beyond AdMob as described above.

• We do not know which calculators you open, how often you use the App, or whether you use it at all.
• No screen views, no event logs, no session records, no heat maps.
• Aside from ad requests, the App functions with no internet connection.

4. Purchases

The Pro unlock (civilcalc_pro_unlock) is a one-time in-app purchase processed entirely by Google Play Billing.

• Payment details are never seen by the App or by the Developer. Card numbers and billing information are handled by Google Play and never reach us.
• The App records only whether Pro is unlocked, as a flag in the same local database described in section 1.
• Refunds and payment queries are handled by Google Play under its own terms.

5. Permissions used by the Android app

These are the permissions in the App's released manifest. Most are added automatically by the Google Mobile Ads SDK rather than requested by the App's own code, and all of them exist to serve ads or to complete a purchase.

INTERNET	Requesting ads, and contacting Google Play for purchases. Nothing else uses the network.
ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE	Lets the ads SDK check whether a connection exists before attempting a request.
com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID	Access to the advertising ID for the ad requests described in section 2. Required by Google Play policy to be declared.
ACCESS_ADSERVICES_AD_ID ACCESS_ADSERVICES_ATTRIBUTION ACCESS_ADSERVICES_TOPICS	Android Privacy Sandbox APIs, added by the ads SDK. They are Google's replacement for cross-app advertising identifiers: the Topics API lets the system supply coarse interest categories for ad selection, and the Attribution API measures ad conversions, both without exposing your identity to us. They apply to ad serving only. You control them in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads → Ad privacy.
FOREGROUND_SERVICE WAKE_LOCK	Declared by the ads SDK so a full-screen ad already on screen is not interrupted. The App itself runs no background or foreground service and schedules no background work.
com.android.vending.BILLING	The Pro in-app purchase.
…DYNAMIC_RECEIVER_NOT_EXPORTED_PERMISSION	An internal Android signature permission that keeps the App's own broadcast receivers private to it. It grants no access to anything and is not visible to other apps.

The App requests no location, camera, microphone, contacts, calendar, phone, SMS or broad storage permission. It does not read your files. Buying Pro stops the ad requests, though the permissions remain declared in the package as shipped.

6. Sharing an export is your action, not ours

When you export a calculation sheet or BOQ report as a PDF, the file is created on your device. If you then email it, upload it or send it through another app, that transfer is made by you through the app you chose, and is governed by that app's privacy policy — not this one. The Developer receives no copy.

7. Engineering results are not professional advice

The App is a calculation aid. Every result must be checked by a qualified engineer against the governing code and project specification before it is used in design, procurement or construction. Cost outputs in particular may rest on indicative rates rather than real ones, and the App says so on the screens where that applies. This section is included here because it is part of understanding what the App is, but it is not a privacy matter — the full terms are in the App's own disclaimer, which you must acknowledge before any calculator opens.

8. Children

The App is a professional engineering tool. It is not directed at children, is not designed for or marketed to them, and we do not knowingly collect any information from a child.

9. Your rights

Because the App holds no account and transmits no project data, there is very little data of yours for us to hold, and none that identifies you.

• Your project data is under your own control on your own device. Delete individual projects in the App, or uninstall it to remove everything.
• The advertising ID is controlled through Android Settings, where you can reset it or delete it outright, and by buying Pro to stop the requests. Requests concerning data held by Google should be directed to Google.
• You may write to us at the address in section 12 with any question about this policy, including a request under GDPR or comparable legislation.

10. Security

Project data is stored in app-private storage, which Android isolates from other applications. Ad and billing traffic uses HTTPS (TLS). Because no project data is transmitted or stored on any server, there is no server-side store of your engineering work to breach.

11. Third parties

Party	Role
Google AdMob	Serves ads in the free version and collects the advertising ID for that purpose. Removed entirely by the Pro unlock.
Google Play Billing	Processes the Pro purchase. Handles all payment data.
Google Play	Distributes the App and provides its own install and crash reporting to the Developer in aggregate, under Google's terms rather than this policy.

No other third party receives anything. There is no data broker, no advertising network beyond AdMob, and no analytics vendor.

12. Website

This website uses Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager to understand visitor traffic. That is separate from the App and applies only to pages you view in a browser. The App itself contains neither.

13. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially — in particular if the App ever begins collecting something it does not collect today — the effective date above will change and the revised policy will be published here before the change reaches a released version.
